On 7th May, Jet the "Blue Peter" Pony celebrated his 21st birthday. The Barrow Farm Group in Essex, where he has lived for the past 14 years, marked the day with a special party combined with an open day. This included different stalls to browse, a balloon race, a barbeque and gymkhana games for the riders at Barrow Farm. The highlight of the day was a demonstration by Jet showing off his wonderful versatility. He completed a course based on the RDA working pony and rider (ridden by Shaun Reece-Atkinson who won this event on Jet last year at Hartpury), and went on to show a dressage test to music, completed a course of show jumps and finished off with a driving demonstration. Throughout the time he had his ears pricked and really looked as if he was thoroughly enjoying himself! Anne Mitchell and her team at Barrow Farm must be congratulated for producing not only Jet, but also the rest of the horses in her yard in such a superb condition. The following week Blue Peter visited Barrow Farm and spent the day filming. The programme was broadcast a week later and Jet made a live appearance "what a star"! |
